On the night of his 35th birthday, Robert struggles to think of a wish to make as he blows out his birthday candles. The lone bachelor, surrounded by 'those good and crazy people' - his married friends -  Robert is uncertain whether he should simply be happy with his lot, or whether he should wish for his own romantic partner. Over a series of dinner parties, first dates, and thoughtful conversations, Robert attempts to understand the pros and cons of marriage from his diverse and frequently hilarious friends, and begins to make sense of his own persistent bachelorhood and of 'Being Alive.'

In the hottest of summer terms, CHMS staged Stephen Sondheim's 1970 classic musical, Company. Based on the neon-lit aesthetics of the successful 2018 West End revival, director Anna Gallon added an extra element that made the production pop - an immersive experience wherein the audience were invited to Bobby's birthday party, both before the performance and during the interval. Amid the balloons and party hats, there was some top-notch theatre on display; you can read all about it in York Vision's review here and on the show's Instagram page!
